The Enisey River Cruise


The Enisey River cruise and tour The mighty Enisey River will bring us to the heart of Siberia. We will travel from Krasnoyarsk to Norilsk in the Arctic tundra; visit the very important places of the Cossack saga and exile places of the revolutionary leaders.
Most likely we will be the only (or some of the very few...) tourists on board the ship as the Enisey River is used by the locals to move from one village to another.
We will also meet the Nenets or Evenki tribes, nomad people still herding reindeers near the arctic city of Norilsk.

Day 1
Optional transfer to the airport in Moscow.
~22:10 (01:35) - Flight Moscow - Krasnoyarsk.
Day 2
~06:45 (10:10) - Arrival in Krasnoyarsk by plane from Moscow.
Transfer to the hotel "Takmak" (check-in time 12:00).
Breakfast.
Krasnoyarsk city tour with a visit of the local Museum of history and culture.
Lunch.
Tour to Krasnoayrsk Hydroelectric Power Plant and Ovsyanka village. It is the traditional Siberian village founded more than 300 years ago to protect Kransoyarsk from the nomad tribes.
On the way back to Kransoyarsk visit Stolby Nature Reserve.
Dinner.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3
~08:30 - Transfer to the "Fish-place" guesthouse by minibus.
The guesthouse is located by the place of confluence of the Enisey and Angara Rivers.
~13:30 - Accommodation (rooms with shared WC and shower). Lunch.
Folklore concert of the local village chorus singing Cossack songs and wearing Cossack clothes.
Dinner.
Overnight at the countryside hotel.

Day 4
Breakfast.
Walk in the area.
Picnic lunch on the beautiful Karaulniy (guard) Island located in the place of confluence of the Enisey and Angara Rivers.
Transfer to Eniseysk.
Former place of exile of the revolution leaders, Eniseysk is also called "father of Siberian towns" and "Open-air Museum". It has 94 monuments of architecture.
Tour of Eniseysk with a visit of the local Museum, Photo-Izba (photo lodge) Museum, the Monastery Lake.

Day 5
At about midnight we will embark the Valeriy Chkalov, 96 meters long ship. There are no cabins with private facilities on board therefore we will be accommodated in first class double cabins with shared facilities.
~00:30 - Departure from Eniseysk.
Breakfast on board.
~10:00 - Stop about 20-30 minutes in the traditional Cossack village of Vorogovo. It was founded 350 years ago when the Cossacks headed by Yermak were conquering Siberia fighting with the local nomadic tribes. The population today is about 2000 people. The village is located in a very picturesque area where the Yenisey is 3 km wide.
You will have about half an hour stop to visit the local market near the pier where you can buy local fish, mushrooms and berries.

~15:00 - Stop about 20-30 minutes in the village of Yartsevo.
Dinner on board.
Passing the Podkamennaya Tunguska River.
~19:30 - Stop about 20-30 minutes at Bor settlement.
Overnight on board.

Day 6
Breakfast on board.
~11:50 - Stop about 20 minutes in the village of Verschagino.
Lunch on board.
~19:30 - Stop about 60 minutes at the old Siberian town of Turukhansk.
Turukhansk was founded in 1660 as the Trinity Monastery. It is situated in the area of unique microclimate where you will see all the diversity of Siberian taiga (tundra in the north and forest tundra in the south). The area is populated by Russians, including Old Believers, and local ethnic groups. For centuries it was the place of exile for criminals and revolutionaries, including Decembrists in the XIX century, Stalin and Sverdlov in the XX century.

Day 7
Breakfast on board.
~09:00 - Stop about 30-60 minutes at Igarka (if possible we will visit the Permafrost Museum. Entrance fee not included).
Lunch and dinner on board.
~21:00 - Arrival in Dudinka. Disembarkation.
Transfer to Norilsk.
Overnight at the hotel in Norilsk.

Day 8
Breakfast.
Tour to a camp of nomadic tribes of Nenets or Evenki in tundra near Norilsk. Meet local people; learn about their life, lunch with local meals.
Dinner.
Overnight at the hotel in Norilsk.

Transfer to the airport.
Morning flight to Moscow.
Optional transfer to the hotel or another airport.
