Brief itinerary

Day 1. Murmansk

Meals No

Arrival in Murmansk by plane from St. Petersburg or Moscow.
Transfer to the hotel (without guide).
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 2. Murmansk

Meals B

Breakfast at the hotel.
City tour of Murmansk with local English-speaking guide, observe the city center, Alyosha war memorial, Lighthouse memorial and the Church of the Saviour on the Waters.
Continue with a visit to NS "Lenin", the world's first nuclear-powered icebreaker, now a museum.
Overnight at the hotel.
Optional departure for Lovozero area after the city tour and overnight at the guesthouse of the husky center.

Day 3. Lovozero

Meals B, L, D

Breakfast at the hotel.
Pick-up at the hotel and transfer to the husky centre, located in the forest in Lovozero region (about 3 hours, without guide).
Welcoming tea and pies.
Ride on reindeer sled and dog sleds with local English-speaking guide.
Dinner, including traditional meals such as reindeer meat.
Transfer to the train station of Olenegorsk.
~21:43 - Departure by overnight train to Petrozavodsk.

Day 4. Traditional village

Meals D

14:42 – Arrival in Petrozavodsk.
Meet by local English-speaking guide. Transfer and accommodation at the hotel.
Evening guided tour to the historical Karelian village of Kinerma, including a visit of the chapel of the 18th century and dinner with traditional local meals.
Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5. Kizhi

Meals B. L

Breakfast at the hotel.
Departure by a hovercraft to the Island of Kizhi. Tour of Kizhi Museum of Wooden Architecture with local English-speaking guide.
Return to Petrozavodsk.
Transfer to the train station.
Departure for Moscow or St. Petersburg.


City of Murmansk

City of Murmansk

The city of Murmansk was founded in 1916. Nowadays, it is the biggest city in the world situated beyond the Arctic Circle.



This beautiful area is situated in the central and north-eastern part of the Kola Peninsula.



Petrozavodsk is a nice city with several interesting sights and a perfect starting point for the trips to Kizhi and other cultural and nature landmarks of Karelia.



The island of Kizhi in Lake Onego is famous for the biggest world ensemble of wooden architecture - Kizhi Museum. It is enlisted in UNESCO's World Heritage List.

Karelian Villages

Karelian Villages

There are several villages in Karelia which represent the culture and history of the local population. In some villages one can observe the examples of wooden architecture such as small churches and chapels as well as traditional houses.

Ice conditions dependent, trip to Kizhi is operated from early January till late March. Murmansk part is usually available from November till early April.
