Pskov
Pskov is the center of the region. The population of the city is about 200 000 people.
Pskov is an important railway and motorway junction in the northwestern part of Russia. As the town of Pskov is one of the oldest towns in
Russia, one can observe different stone structures including churches, chapels and monasteries. Some of them look like small fortresses as the
town had to fight many invaders during its long history.
Izborsk
The village of Izborsk was first mentioned in the chronicles in 682. The first big settlement was established
in the 8th century. This place is considered to be older than Pskov and is famous for its old fortress and diferent churches.
Pechory
Pechory is one of the oldest towns in Pskov region. One can observe the historic buildings,
monuments of traditional defense and civil architecture, traditional homesteads with gates and household buildings.
The most interesting sight in Pechory is The Holy Dormition Pskovo-Pechersky (Pskov-Caves)
monastery which has been functioning without interruption for over 500 years.
