Veliki Novgorod (Novgorod the Great) is situated in the northwest of Russia. It is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Russia. The history of the city has started in the 9th century. The name Novgorod ("New Town") was first mentioned in chronicles in the year of 859.

Kremlin
Kremlin of Veliki Novgorod is the most spectacular place in the city and includes several important sights such as St. Sofia's Cathedral and the monument "Millenium of Russia".

Yaroslav's Courtyard
This ancient marketplace of Veliki Novgorod is located over the Volkhov River from Novgorod Kremlin. It has numerous historical churches and houses.

St. Yury's Monastery
According to the chronicles this historical Monastery was founded in 1030 by Yaroslav the Wise. It is located in the outskirts of Veliki Novgorod.

Vitoslavitsy Museum
This museum of traditional Russian wooden architecture is located close to St. Yury's Monastery on the place of the former village of Vitoslavlitsy.
