Arkhangelsk
The town of Arkhangelsk was founded in 1584 on the bank of the Severnaja Dvina River,
close to the eastern shore of the White Sea. From the early years of its history, Arkhangelsk has been an
important sea port and centre of trade in Russia.
Kargopol
Kargopol is one of the oldest towns in the Northwest of Russia. It is situated in the
southwest of Arkhangelsk region. It was first mentioned in the chronicles in 1146.
It is famous for beautiful old churches.
National Park "Kenozersky"
The National Park "Kenozersky" was established in December of 1991.
The Park is situated in the southwest of Arkhangelsk region near the border with the Republic of Karelia. This is a natural, historical and
cultural area.
